Indian cricketer KL Rahul was full of praise to former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The elegant batsman has credited Dhoni to be a huge role model for young budding cricketers from smaller towns.
In fact Dhoni is one of the first names that come to our mind, as he came into the foray from Ranchi. When cricket was mainly confined to metro cities, Dhoni has managed to become a huge icon from a small town. On the other hand, he also provided Indian cricket many youngsters who are currently playing huge role in Indian cricket.
Under his captaincy, India managed to hit new heights by winning Test championship for the first time. Meanwhile, he also delivered all the three major ICC trophies to India during his tenure as skipper.
“It was quite an emotional moment for the whole country and for world cricket. We have all grown up wanting to be MS Dhoni. Especially for someone like me who comes from a small town, he was our hero. We always told our families look it doesn’t matter where you come from, you can always go and try and achieve your dreams,” Rahul said in the video.
“I am sure I won’t have enough words to tell him . I will just give him a long hug and say thank you and probably ask him to go easy on Kings XI this time,” he added.

KL Rahul Set For IPL 2020
Rahul has earned plaudits for his batting in international cricket over the past 18 months. The talented player managed to become a vital cog for India in both ODI and T20 formats. On the other hand, his ability to keep meant India are able to field in an extra batsman into the starting line up.
However, the 28-year old is up for a new challenge this year in IPL 2020. He will be their full time skipper and will look to take them to success. Kings XI Punjab are one of the few sides that are yet to win IPL title.
But with KL Rahul they have a calm personality at helm this season. The addition of Glenn Maxwell will also hugely help Punjab batting lineup. Chris Gayle will look to show his impact in his final years of his career.
Rahul is the key batsman for Punjab as he was their highest run scorer last season. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see Rahul in this new role as captain in IPL 2020.
