Indian Premier League is back despite the massive Corona pandemic around. The BCCI made impressive moves so far to ensure that the event is conducted in the best way possible. With no crowds allowed into stadiums, this will be the first time that fans will see empty stands in an IPL season.

On the other hand, the board has also decided to shift the event to UAE this year. The corona crisis in India meant that there is literally near zero scope to conduct IPL in India. This will be the first time an entire IPL is scheduled away from India since 2009. Meanwhile, all the teams have already left for Dubai last week.

As part of preventive measures, all the players and staff are currently under home isolation in Dubai. They will undergo corona tests before joining team training in couple of days. IPL is a long and intriguing season for every team as they will play huge amount of games in no time.

Each team will play at least 14 games in each season and there is a decent chance for their skippers to get injured during the course of the season. A captain can miss few games if he gets injured. So here we look at all the backup options for captaincy for each franchise.

Rajasthan Royals- Ben Stokes

In Steve Smith, Rajasthan Royals have a proven skipper at their helm. However, the team are mostly packed with youngsters and need proper captain in case of unavailability of Smith.

There are few options like Jaydev Unadkat, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. However, Ben Stokes seems to be a good choice among the three as he is currently the vice captain of England in all formats. On the other hand, Jaydev Unadkat will lead Rajasthan in case Steve Smith and Ben Stokes arrive late to UAE after England- Australia series.
