Ajinkya Rahane has had a decent spell as captain for Rajasthan Royals last season. However, he failed to take them to play offs despite some impressive cricket over the season.
The 32-year old is the current vice captain for Indian test team. He has been able to prove his worth as a batsman for his previous IPL sides. However, Shreyas Iyer is still a young cricketer and will definitely use Rahane’s advice. Should the situation arise, Rahane is their most realistic option as the backup captain for Delhi Capitals.
