Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was tested for COVID 19 and declared negative. The veteran cricketer will now join the CSK camp in Chennai later this week.

The franchise are currently planning for a week long training in Chennai before heading to UAE. Strict precautions are being taken by each franchise to ensure that IPL is conducted without any delays.

From quarantine measures to covid testing, all the franchises are following BCCI’s SOP. Most of the teams are expected to fly to Dubai next week. Meanwhile, Dhoni gave his samples to micro praxis lab at private Guru Nanak hospital on Wednesday, in his hometown.

Another Chennai Super Kings player Monu Kumar Singh also submitted his samples along with Dhoni in Ranchi. Now, that the captain is back, Chennai Super Kings will definitely start trying out combinations that best their starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ fielding coach Dishant Yagnik was tested positive for COVID this week. The team were actually taking measures to ensure that Rajasthan fly out to Dubai next week from Mumbai.

Chennai Super Kings Once Again Favorites

After their two year ban from IPL, Chennai Super Kings came roaring back. They won the title in 2018 and made it to the final in 2019. But they lost the final by just 1 run to their nemesis Mumbai Indians.

Currently, the team boasts three IPL titles and will look to add fourth in UAE this year. The team once again relies heavily on veteran cricketers as they had been in the past couple of seasons.

Chennai has one of the best Indian core in the tournament with Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja, Rayudu and Deepak Chahar. They always play to their strengths and the slow pitches in UAE might suit Chennai better than any other side.

With Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla and Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings have one of the best spin attacks in this season’s IPL. Meanwhile, the plethora of all rounders will give them additional edge over other sides.

Dhoni will also look to punch his weight in IPL 2020. As he is looking to make a comeback into Indian national team, this will be the best chance to prove his mettle and attract the attention of selectors.

It would be a massive shock if Chennai fail to qualify for play offs once again this season. In case if you do not know, IPL will begin on September 19 and the IPL final 2020 will be played on November 10.
