IPL 2020: N Srinivasan Is Like A Father Figure To Me- Suresh Raina

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is in the headlines over the last few days. His withdrawal from IPL 2020 is one of the most unexpected moments in the history of the event. Visibly Chennai Super Kings’ board was displeased with his decision.

However, former chairman of CSK, N Srinivasan did throw some harsh comments over Suresh Raina recently. Amidst the corona crisis inside CSK camp, the news of Suresh Raina did create tremors.

But the southpaw has revealed that Srinivasan is like a father figure to him. All the misunderstandings between them are now cleared. Suresh Raina is also confident of playing for CSK in the coming years.

“He is like a father figure to me and he’s always stood by me and is close to my heart. He treats me like his younger son and am sure a lot of what he said was taken out of context. Ek baap apne bacche ko daant sakta hai(A father can scold his son).

“He didn’t know the real reasons for me leaving when he gave those comments. Now he’s been informed about them and he even sent me a message thereafter. We’ve chatted about it and both CSK and I just want to get over with it,” Suresh Raina said about the matter. 

Srinivas was the former chairman of Chennai Super Kings. Although he is no longer associated with the team. He is still the owner of India cements who in turn own Chennai franchise.

Suresh Raina To Play IPL For 4-5 Years

Raina has been an important player for both India and Chennai Super Kings over the years. But the 33-year old took a sudden decision to retire from international cricket last month. It was quite a surprise as he is still in early 30s.

On the other hand, he was not in the plans for national team for sometime now. The decision does make sense in a way. Raina, however, believes still has lot of cricket to offer.

The elegant hard hitter believes he can play at the highest level for at least 4 to 5 years time. He is looking to play in Indian Premier League for many years to come. On the other hand, with the air cleared between him and CSK, there is a high chance he will play for the franchise for many more years.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings’ player sand staff were cleared negative in the latest round of covid tests. They will be allowed to team training on September 5 if all the results come out as negative on September 3. The infected players and staff are currently quarantined in a separate hotel.
