Chennai Super Kings stalwart Suresh Raina gave his first public interview after returning to India. Ever since he left the franchise camp in Dubai, there has been contrasting reports. The 33-year old was one of the best players in IPL history. But his decision to leave the tournament before it began, left many surprised.

In an attempt to clear the air, Suresh Raina gave an interview to Times of India on his decision. The southpaw has revealed the decision to not participate in IPL 2020 is his personal choice. He also made clear that there is no rift between him and Chennai Super Kings after the incident.

Chennai Super Kings are having a tough time in Dubai so far. The franchise remains the only team that have not been into bio bubble so far. The players and staff will undergo another rounds of tests on September 3. If they clear this, then CSK will be allowed to team training from September 5.

Mahi Bhai Is Very Important To Me, Says Raina

We all know the level of bonding Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina has. However, there has been reports about a potential fight between the two after Raina decided to leave UAE.

Speaking on leaving Chennai Super Kings camp, Raina said: “It was a personal decision and I had to come back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front. CSK is my family too and Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very important to me and this was a tough decision.

“There is no issue between CSK and me. Nobody will just turn their back on Rs 12.5 crore and walk away without a solid reason. I might have retired from international cricket but I’m still young and I am looking forward to playing for them in the IPL for the next 4-5 years.”

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are actively pursuing a replacement for Suresh Raina. However, it looks highly unlikely to find such a player in less than 15 days time for the mega event. Young Ruturaj Gaikwad looks like the player who will utilize this chance to prove his worth in Chennai batting lineup.

Suresh Raina also hinted he will play for another 4-5 years in IPL. He also revealed that he will play for Chennai Super Kings next season. Chennai fans are relatively happy to hear this news. The talented cricketer has also recently retired from international cricket and will solely concentrate on IPL cricket for the foreseeable future.
