Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has proposed an exciting charity-cum-farewell match for Indian legends against current Indian team. It is a well known fact that many of the recently retired Indian cricketers did not get a proper farewell.

Starting with old guard like Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman to recently retired Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, none of them received a proper farewell. In fact these players are strong pillars for Indian cricket in the past two decades. On the other hand, the proposal from Irfan Pathan does make sense as it helps in charity as well.

It will be very eyeful for Indian cricket fans to once again see Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir opening the innings for one last time. With middle order packed with the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Meanwhile, the bowling unit will also contains cricketers like Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar.

“Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team,” Pathan tweeted.

Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni Latest To Retire

Indian cricketers MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina are the latest to retire from international cricket. Dhoni made his debut in 2004 while Raina entered into Indian team during 2005. Both have managed to work their way up in the initial years and produced many iconic moments in Indian cricket.

MS Dhoni will go down as one of the greatest cricketers ever because of his achievements on a cricket field. The veteran player managed to guide Indian team to all the three major ICC trophies.

Over the years, India’s reliance of Dhoni has also increased in lower middle order. He will be dearly missed but the skipper’s sudden announcement on August 15 took everyone by surprise. Before fans were able to digest the news, minutes later, Suresh Raina also announced his retirement from international cricket.

Many cricket followers believed MS Dhoni would be in contention for T20 world cup next year. However, the former Indian captain decided to leave international cricket on a high.

Meanwhile, both MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina are still the best players for Chennai Super Kings. Both the superstars will be in action when IPL 2020 begins next month in UAE. Cricket fans are eagerly waiting to see them play in the mega event as they will not be playing in IPL for many years.
