Team India could boycott Brisbane test if they are needed to undergo another two week quarantine, according to reports. There has been a lot of speculation around the test match because of latest controversy around Indian team.

Queensland have been wary of the increasing Corona cases in neighboring states. However, the state government did not close its borders. But the state is definitely strict on their covid rules.

“If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come,” Queensland’s Health Shadow Minister Ros Bates said.

Players Mentally Exhausted

Ever since the announcement of IPL, all the players are kept in strict quarantine. They have managed to stay indoors relatively and came up with good performances. Even after landing in Australia, Team India have been in a bio bubble.

But if the rules are not amended, Indian players should stay in hotel for indefinite period before Brisbane test. Although, the team are eager to complete the series, they are not keen on undergoing another quarantine.

“If you look at it, we were quarantined for 14 days in Dubai before landing in Sydney and doing so for another 14 days. That means we were in a hard bubble for nearly a month before coming out. What we don’t want now is to quarantine again at the end of the tour,” the source told Cricbuzz.

But the team management are okay to play the final test in another city to complete the test series. Cricket Australia worked hard to get this series in place after covid crisis. But playing in another city looks like the most viable option right now.

“We aren’t keen on going to Brisbane if it means being stuck in the hotel again, except for going to the ground. Instead we don’t mind being in some other city, playing both Test matches there to complete the series and returning home,” he added.

“All we’re saying is the boys have been in various states of lockdowns and bubbles for nearly six months now. And it’s not been easy for anyone.”

5 Indian Players Isolated From Rest of the Team

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant are amongst the five players that are isolated from the rest of the team after latest controversy. The five players went out on dining on New Year in Melbourne.

Later reports surfaced that they failed to follow covid protocols. The players dined inside the restaurant while rules suggest they should be dining outdoors. Meanwhile, the fan who uploaded the pics and videos on social media have claimed to have hugged Rishabh Pant.

However, he later revealed that exaggerated the situation. But the players are put into isolation while BCCI and CA are investigating into the matter.

“The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.

“In the interim, on the advice of the Australian and Indian medical teams, the aforementioned players have been placed in isolation as a precaution. This will include separating the group of players from the broader Indian and Australian squads when travelling and at the training venue,” the statement from Cricket Australia read.
