Sri Lanka are in a spot of bother while chasing Indian total of 132 runs. They have lost 5 wickets for 99 runs in 16 overs and further require 34 runs in 4 overs. Hence this match is turning out to be a potential nail biter.
Chasing the target of 133 runs, Sri Lanka started a bit slowly in the first over. Just 1 run was scored in the first over off Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Avishka Fernando then smashed Sakariya for two consecutive fours in the next over.
The following over saw a drama. On the 4th ball of the over, Bhuvaneshwar bowled one on the pads as the batsman played a flick towards square leg. The fielder present there was Rahul Chahar who jumped and caught the ball. But the momentum was taking him behind the ropes so he threw the ball back into the field and took the catch again.
It was the first wicket. From there Sri Lanka lost their way and kept losing wickets regularly. Sadeera Samarawickrama was the second wicket to go followed by the skipper Dasun Shanaka. While the former was bowled by a classic delivery from Varun Chakravarti, the latter was foxed by Kuldeep Yadav. He was stumped down the wicket to a wide delivery.
Minod Bhanuka who played well for his 36 runs was also sent back to the pavilion by Kuldeep. The batsman tried to hoick him over mid wicket but was taken by the fielder present there.
The fifty wicket pair of Hasaranga and Dhananjay De Silva added 33 quick runs. Both played some eye catching strokes and threatened to take the game away from India.
Then Rahul Chahar struck to give India an important breakthrough. On the last ball of the 16th over, he bowled a widish delivery and Hasaranga went after it trying to drive it.
But he was beaten by the flight and offered an easy catch to the fielder at point. The bowler Chahar was all pumped up after the wicket and shouted angrily at departing batsman.
