Chennai Super Kings opener Faf du Plessis was dismissed through runout during the chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The talented South African was looking in impressive touch before getting out.

Asked to chase a target of 165, Chennai Super Kings batsmen were looking in lot of pressure. They were not able to deal with the onslaught of Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers. However, Faf du Plessis was playing in his own league despite the wicket being on slower side.

The 36-year old is in fine form since the start of IPL 2020. He once again looked to be the best player inside the powerplay. du Plessis broke the shackles in the sixth over when he hit Natarajan for consecutive fours. But unfortunately he was dismissed on the last ball of the powerplay.

Coming to the dismissal, Kedar Jadhav poked the ball towards the right of mid wicket. He immediately began running for a quick single. But Priyam Garg was quickly onto the ball and threw to the batsman’s end. Incidentally, Faf du Plessis also suffered a thigh injury in the previous over after missing a full toss.

du Plessis was slow to react for the run and eventually gave up in the final third. However, Jonny Bairstow despite not managing to collect the ball, somehow directed it towards stumps. But the third umpire was unsure whether Bairstow clipped the bails off or the ball did the carnage.

After viewing the runout from three different angles, the third umpire decided to declare him out. But despite the replays and different angles, Bairstow’s gloves are awfully close to the stumps at the time of lights. Whether it is out or not out is up to you to decide.

Here is du Plessis wicket

du Plessis managed to score 22 runs from just 19 balls. While other batsmen were struggling, he looked to play free flowing cricket. The wicket came at the right time as Sunrisers Hyderabad were on front foot at the time of his dismissal.

Earlier in the match, David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. But they also struggled in the first half of the innings. But youngsters Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma rescued Sunrisers in the later half. They put up an impressive display as Sunrisers posted 164 in their 20 overs.
