India is in trouble against New Zealand in the final of ICC World Test Championships. They have lost half of their side for just 130 runs and lead New Zealand by just 98 runs. Moreover two sessions of the final day still remains and India is looking increasingly vulnerable in the test.
The first wicket to fall in the morning session was of Virat Kohli. He was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson as he edged one to the wicket keeper. Cheteshwar Pujara followed him soon after as he was also sent back to the pavilion by the same bowler. The right hander batsman nicked a delivery behind that was gobbled up in the slips.
Ajinkya Rahane the Indian vice captain came to bat at number 5. All the Indian fans had high hopes from him as he is one of the most dependable batsman for his country on foreign soul. Moreover, Rahane started on a reasonable note and looked comfortable against the Kiwi pacers.
Both Pant and Rahane added a valuable 37 runs for the fifth wicket. Just when it appeared that the duo will stitch a big partnership that would take India to safety, Rahane was dismissed. With him, India’s hopes of drawing this test match took a massive beating. Moreover, it was the way of dismissal of Rahane that truly riled the fans up.
Rahane gets OUT in same way again!
What happened was that it was Trent Boult, the left arm swing bowler bowling to Rahane in the 50th over of the Indian innings. On the last ball of the over, Boult delivered a harmless down the leg side ball to Rahane. Instead of leaving the ball or going for a full blooded pull shot, the Indian vice captain opted for a little glance. However, he mistimed his glance as the ball took the edge and the wicket keeper BJ Watling moved to his left and took the easy catch on offer.
Rahane was distraught after losing his wicket but he had to go anyway. This was not the first time that he was dismissed in this way. Even during the Australian tour, Rahane was caught down the leg side a couple of times. Hence, fans lost their cool and they let it know on social media.
