The second match of the double header is underway at the Indian Premier League. Accordingly, Chennai Super Kings are facing Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. In this match, Kolkata Knight Riders won he toss and its skipper Eoin Morgan elected to field first.
The big change for Kolkata is that Sunil Narine is playing for the first time in this season. For Chennai, Lungi Ngidi is in the playing eleven. He is also playing his first match of the season.
The openers of Chennai were on fire from the word go. They came out with intent. Consequently, their first 50 came in just 33 balls and after the powerplay, they had scored 54 runs without loss. Furthermore, Gayakwad’s first six came in second over. He hammered Pat Cummins for a six over mid wicket.
Four sixes by Gayakwad
His second six came against Andre Russel. The batsman pulled him over cow corner for a massive six. Then, Nagarkoti was smashed for the third six. Gayakwad came down the track and hoicked him over long on. On the next ball, he hit his first 50 of the season.
But, he wasn’t done yet. In the 12th over of the innings, Gayakwad hit such a big six that it left everyone stunned in the stadium.
Gigantic six by Rituraj
It was the fourth ball of the over. The bowler was Prasidh Krishna. It was a short of a length delivery. Gayakwad walked down the track and drilled it over cow corner for a humungous six. Hence, it was so high and long that went into the second tier of the stands.
The entire players of Chennai and their management appreciated the shot. Moreover, even Dhoni was shocked to see such a shot from Rituraj Gayakwad.
However, he was soon dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy. It was a flighted delivery and the batsman tried to slog sweep it over mid wicket. But, he was taken smartly by the fielder stationed there. Pat Cummins slided to take the catch and Gayakwad was dismissed for well made 64 runs.
