After that Moeen Ali and Faf Du Plessis, took over. Together, they formed a partnership of 66 runs in quick duration. By the time, Moeen Ali got out, at the individual score of 46, Chennai victory was confirmed. They did lose two more wickets, in the form of Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina, but Chennai eventually completed the target of 107 without any hiccups.
Du Plessis scoops it for a 6
However, even during a small target of 107 runs, Faf Du Plessis found his own moment. The moment arrived in the fourth over of the chase. The Overseas Pacer of Punjab Kings, Jhye Richardson the Australian fast bowler, was bowling.
It was the last ball of the over and Faf Du Plessis was batting. Richardson bowled a length ball outside the off stump. Du Plessis quickly realised the length and line of the ball. Then, he instantly, sat down on one knee and scooped the ball over fine leg for a six.
It was a brilliant shot to play, against an out-and-out pacer like Richardson. Even, at the age of 38 Faf Du Plessis showed that he has, not forgotten his skills and can, still play the shots like he did when he was young.
Such was the audacity of the shot that both the captain KL Rahul and the bowler, Richardson could not believe that, and the entire team of Chennai Super Kings enjoyed, that shot in the dugout.
