Nitish Rana is one of the most talented batsman in national cricketing circles. The 28 year old player from Delhi is an attacking batsman who has the ability to hit huge sixes. Moreover that is complimented by his part time off spin and electric fielding. This makes him one of the better uncapped Indian players in the Indian Premier League.
Rana made his first class debut for Delhi in Ranji Trophy in the season 2015. He impressed everyone immediately while making 557 runs at an average of 50.63. Moreover he finished as his team’s highest run scorer for the season. The left hander wasn’t done yet. During the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the same year, he made 218 runs and finished as Delhi’s second highest run scorer.
His best display came in the T20 tournament of Syed Mushtaq Ali. He smashed 299 runs at a stunning strike rate of 175 and an average of 42. Owing to performances like these, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction in the season 2018. Since then he has been one of the mainstay of Knight Riders batting.
In 122 matches of T20 cricket, Rana has scored 2846 runs at an average of 27.6 at an impressive strike rate of 136. His best score in the format is 97 and has whacked 148 sixes in T20 cricket.

When it comes to IPL, the left hander has played 67 games. In this he has scored 1638 runs at an average of 28.24 and a strike rate of 134. His best score in IPL happens to be 87 runs and has hit 81 sixes till date.
Rewarding his consistent performances at the national level, the Indian team selection committee has rewarded him with a call up for the Indian team. He is a part of the Indian team that has travelled to Sri Lanka for the limited overs series vs the hosts. Moreover it is expected that he will get a chance in the T20 format for India.
Today the Indian team played an intra squad practice match. The players were divided into two teams which were led by Shikhar Dhawan and the other was led by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. The BCCI has uploaded few pictures of the practice match in which the players can be seen polishing their skills.
In one of the photos, Nitish Rana can be seen hitting a huge shot over leg side as a fielder in the background looks on. In another he is playing a slog sweep.
