The final of the ICC World Test Championship is reaching a mouth watering stage. After India was bowled out for 217 runs in the first innings, New Zealand has been bundled out for 249 runs. Hence, India has conceded a lead of 32 runs. However, New Zealand needs to bat in the last innings and this lead could come in handy for the Kiwis.

For New Zealand, their captain Kane Williamson was the most successful batsman on day 5. He played a captain’s knock of 49 runs. In the end, when India were threatening to stop New Zealand before 217 runs, Tim Southee stuck a few meaty blows. The number 9 batsman hit 2 sixes on his way to make a valuable 30 runs and was the last man dismissed.

Earlier, an interesting moment happened in the match. It was between Mohammad Shami and Kyle Jamieson. At one stage, New Zealand had lost their 6 wickets for 162 runs and were in danger of giving a lead to India. Kane Williamson was at the crease with only tail to follow and the Kiwis still trailing by more than 50 runs.

Shami has the last laugh!

Jamieson came in at number 8 and started in an aggressive way. He tried to score runs on each delivery and did not play any kind of defensive shot. That approach was visible in his cameo of 21 from just 16 balls as he took the attack to the Indians. It also gave breathing space to his captain Kane Williamson.

It was the 87th over of the innings and Mohammad Shami was bowling. On the fifth ball of the over, Shami did a mistake pitching one up to the batsman Jamieson. Hence, he made room and used that long reach of his bat to thump the ball over long on for a huge six. That was a T20 style shot in a test match!.

However, Shami came roaring back in some style. The next ball was a short delivery to the batsman as he tried to take it on by hooking it. But, Kyle Jamieson was beaten by the pace on it and was late in playing the shot. Hence, the ball took the edge and went straight up in the air travelling towards deep fine leg.

The fielder positioned there was Jasprit Bumrah who judged the catch to perfection and took it easily. Shami then rejoiced his comeback by letting out a roar and a fist pump.
