The final test of World Test Championship is in the third day of its duration. It is a title bout for inaugural champion of World Tests. India and New Zealand are facing off each other at Southampton in Ageas Bowl /  Rose Bowl. After the first day of the test was totally washed out, only about half of the day was possible on the second day. Fortunately for both the teams, rain relented on the third day.

However, due to overnight downpour, the start of the game was pushed back by half an hour. That meant the test started at regular time, as the test match was scheduled to begin about half an hour earlier. That was done to cover the time lost to the rain.

India started the proceedings with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane as the overnight batsmen. Indian fans would have hoped that Kohli will play a captain’s knock and take India to a respectable score. However, none of that happened as the Indian captain was the first wicket to fall in the morning.

Kohli was dismissed by an incoming delivery from Kyle Jamieson who created problems for India throughout the innings. That wicket set India a long way back and with their batting mainstay gone, they collapsed. Soon, a score of 149-3 became 217 as India were all out under 250, a score which the team management thought to be good.

Pant voice from behind wickets!

After this, New Zealand openers began on a sedate note. Both the left handers were quick to judge the line and length of the ball. Hence, they were tough to dislodge despite Indian bowlers asking tough questions to them. Amidst all this, a Rishabh Pant special moment came on the field.

During the 23th over of the innings, Ravi Ashwin came to bowl. Accordingly, Virat Kohli was standing close to the fielder in the ring. Rishabh Pant, the wicket keeper spotted this and said to Virat – ” Virat Bhai thora sidha ho sakta hai”. ( Virat u can be a bit straight). Then he chirped to Ashwin from behind the wicket and said Common Ash Common Ash in a bid to cheer the bowler up.
