Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma looked at his best in the second test at Chennai. After missing out in first test due to some brilliant bowling from England, the Indian opener came back strongly today.

The 32-year old has made sure that he converted his good start. Ever since his comeback into Indian test team in Australia, he always got brilliant starts but threw away his wicket some times.

However, today he kept his cool and went onto make his seventh test century. Moments leading to his century were nervy as Rohit Sharma gave a couple of half chances at 98. He tried to play unconventionally and tried to poke at deliveries that were not there to be hit or cut.

This gave little scare to Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika who was in the stands. But Rohit eventually ensured that he scored the hundred and his wife was all smiles at the end. This knock was particularly impressive as he did bulk of the scoring for India.

Despite losing wickets at one end, Rohit Sharma kept on going and counter attacked England bowlers. He along with Pujara tried to repair the early damage. However, both Pujara and Virat Kohli were dismissed in the space of couple of overs.

Rohit Sharma then made sure that no further damage is done as he got ample support from Ajinkya Rahane. Both the players have looked at home as they respected the good deliveries and pounced on every bad ball possible.

India won a crucial toss at Chepauk and decided to bat first. The pitch is already doing tricks with the odd ball spinning awkwardly for batsmen. Both Pujara and Kohli were dismissed due to this extra turn.

It is an important toss because this wicket will be very difficult to bat last. India need to amass massive first innings score if they want to win this test match. England will be hoping to break Rohit Sharma – Ajinkya Rahane partnership at the earliest.

The hosts made some big changes in their bowling lineup. Washing Sundar and Shahbaz Nadeem were dropped in favor of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah was rested and Mohammed Siraj took his place in the final XI.
