Punjab Kings have defeated Mumbai Indians by, a thumping margin of 9 wickets and 14 balls remaining. They, chased the target of 132 runs without any problem, as KL Rahul and Chris Gayle added 79 runs in 60 deliveries, to clinch the match. With this win, Punjab Kings moved to the 5th position, just behind Mumbai Indians in the points table.

Now, they have 4 points from 2 wins after, 5 matches. Earlier, Mumbai Indians could only make an ordinary total, of 131 for six in 20 overs. This came largely, on the back of two innings, which was Rohit Sharma’s 63 and Surya Kumar Yadav’s 33. Except them, none of the other Mumbai batsmen could play as required and they, kept losing wickets at wrong time.

Also, the discipline of Punjab Kings was commendable, as all the top 4 bowlers bowled beautifully to restrict, Mumbai Indians to 131. Amidst all this, one interesting moment arrived, in the very first over of the match. Moises Henriques, bowled the first over, to Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock.

Rohit almost out in 1st over

The first four deliveries, brought three singles and Rohit Sharma was, on strike on the fifth ball. Henriques bowled a delivery, that was going down the leg side. Rohit, tried to glance the delivery set into the fine leg region. However, as soon as the ball went past his attempted glance, there was a sound and, KL Rahul took the catch.

Then all the players appealed, and the umpire instantly, gave his decision to, Rohit Sharma as out. But, Rohit also was quick to opt for the DRS. Then, he muttered something to his partner while, looking at the umpire and stared at the umpire. Moreover, in the DRS it was clear that the ball had actually gone off Rohit Sharma’s shirt and not his bat.

So the decision of, the on field umpire had, to be overturned. It was, one good use of the DRS by the Mumbai Indians skipper as an early exit of him, could have been disastrous for Mumbai Indians team. At the end, it was he only who, helped his team go past the total of 130.
