Sanju Samson has long been rated as a potential India player. Since his under 19 days, Samson is under the radar of the Indian team selectors. His attractive stroke play to go with compact technique makes him a treat to watch. Moreover his lazy elegance like Rohit Sharma also catches the eyes of fans and critics alike.

The 26 year old wicket keeper batsman made his Ranji debut in 2011 against Vidarbha for Kerela. In the season 2013, Samson was Kerela’s highest run scorer as he made 530 runs at an average of 59. Hence he was selected in the Indian Under 19 team for the world cup in 2014. Also, he was appointed the vice captain of the team.

Owing to his impressive performance in the Under 19 World Cup and subsequent IPL, he was called to the Indian team. The national team was going to Zimbabwe in 2015. Hence Samson had the opportunity to play his maiden game against the African country. However he failed to impress in his first outing. The right hander made just 19 runs in 24 balls as India lost the match.

Having not being successful vs Zimbabwe, he was dropped from the Indian team. However Samson kept performing in national level cricket and IPL. Furthermore his attractive shots made sure that he was never out of reckoning of the Indian selectors.  In the next season, Samson again performed commendably in domestic. Consequently he was recalled to the Indian team when they toured Australia last year.

Best of Samson in practice!

Playing in the T20, the wicket keeper played some eye catching strokes but could not play a match defining innings. Hence once again he was shown the door from the team.

Now with India touring Sri Lanka with a second string team, Samson has again been selected in the Indian team. The 26 year old knows very well that this could be his last chance to seal a place in the team. Hence Samson is leaving no stone unturned for preparations.

In a video released online, the Kerela player is having practice session against Indian bowlers. During the session, he is playing some brilliant shots. The best amongst them was a McCullum like scoop for 6 against Bhuvaneshwar. Also there was an upper cut against Navdeep Saini for one more 6 which was worth watching.
