Shardul Thakur has made quite a comeback into Team India. Owing to injuries, Shardul Thakur was asked to stay behind in Australia along with Natarajan.

Both the players got their chance to play in the final test at Brisbane. Shardul Thakur came on play only his second test match ever. However, in his debut match he bowled only 10 deliveries before leaving the pitch injured.

At Brisbane, Shardul was brilliant with the ball as he helped India restrict Australia on Day 2. He bowled some good lines and got three wickets in the first innings. India were reeling with the bat when he came onto bat.

Batting at No. 8, Thakur had a huge task to reduce the lead for Australia. On the other hand was Washington Sundar, who is also playing his first test match. But Shardul Thakur took on Cummins immediately once he came on.

The Aussie pacer bowled a short delivery trying to rattle Thakur at the start of his debut innings in test cricket. But Shardul took the ball in his stride and pulled it for a six over deep backward square leg.

He made it look so effortless and brought up his first test runs in some style. He continued to counter attack Australian bowlers and provided ample support to Washington Sundar.

Here is the video

Both Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar are batting brilliantly for the 7th wicket. The duo have already forged the highest partnership of the innings as India are looking to cut down Australia’s lead to less than 100.

Earlier in the day, Indian batsmen were dismissed in a soft manner after losing their wickets due to poor shot selection. Apart from Pujara, all other batters gave away their wickets cheaply.

On the other hand, none of them managed to score a fifty on the day. India looked in good position during the middle of first session. But they lost three wickets and found themselves way off from Australia’s first innings score.

But both Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur are fighting hard in the middle to close the gap. Rain is forecasted for the remaining two days, so it will be interesting to see how this test match unfolds.
