Ishan Kishan had a sensational start to his ODI career today vs the Lankans. Chasing a target of 263, India had already got off to breezy start. By the time Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for a cameo of 43 runs in 24 balls, India had reached 58 under 6 overs.

The left hander was promoted to number 3 since he was scheduled to bat at number 5. Interestingly he was picked in the Indian team today just because Sanju Samson had injured his ligament. Moreover Samson was all set to play this game ahead of Ishan. However fate had other plans.

Dananjaya was bowling his off spins in the over. Accordingly on the very first ball he faced, Kishan danced down the track and blasted it over long on for a huge six. Such was the arrogance in the shot as if it appeared that Ishan Kishan is a veteran of many games and not a debutant.

Funnily enough he wasn’t done yet. The second delivery he faced was a shorter on length and Ishan thrashed it through the point region for a four. This wasn’t the only time he took on Dananjaya. The hapless spinner was once again whacked for 3 consecutive boundaries in his next over by Kishan.

While a fuller ball was blasted through long off, a straighter delivery was cracked via non strikers end for another four. He fetched the third successive boundary when he came down the track and pumped it over leg side for a four.

In fine touch

Kishan hit his second six off the bowling of Asalanka. The South paw once again put the dancing shoes on and tried to thump the delivery over long on. However the hit wasn’t as good and it went in the air. But the fielder present there made a mess of it and dropped it over the fence.

The left handed wicket keeper reached his 50 with another four when he pulled one through mid wicket. He did it in just 33 balls. Soon after this he was dismissed. Sandakan was the bowler who got the better of him as he edged the delivery to wicket keeper.

Kishan made 59 in 42 balls and hit 8 fours and 2 sixes.
