Indian legends and England legends team are squaring off against each other in road safety league. After India legends had won the toss and decided to field first, English legends got to a brilliant start. They scored 50 runs in just 4 overs. If that was not enough, they reached the 100th run in just 9 overs.
They were looking good for a score in excess of more than 200 runs as Kevin Peterson was still batting. Peterson had scored a 50 off just 18 balls and was looking in imperious touch. He was specially severe on the left arm bowlers like Yuvraj Singh and Pragyan Ojha as he danced down the track and hit them for sixes. Yuvraj was hit for two consecutive sixes as the runs came thick and fast.
However, that is when the Pathan brothers showed their fine skills by picking 4 wickets in a space of 3 overs. First it was Irfan Pathan who dismissed Darren Maddy for 29 runs. Pathan then struck in his next over when he got the biggest English wicket. The wicket of skipper Kevin Peterson. The England captain was playing beautifully and was proving to be the danger man for India.
Peterson made 75 runs off just 37 balls which included 6 fours and 5 sixes. He was out when he nicked one to the wicket keeper Naman Ojha. After that, it was the turn of his brother Yusuf Pathan.
The Pathans show
Pathan started his over by conceding a boundary but bounced back in some style. He took 2 wickets in two consecutive deliveries. Chris Schofield was bowled when he tried to hit Pathan while the next batsman Kabir Ali was gone when he edged off to Naman Ojha.
The four quick wickets set England back by a long way. Their hopes for a score off more than 200 went up in smoke by this flurry of wickets.
Irfan Pathan finished with figures of 4-0-28-2 while Yusuf Pathan had the figures of 3-0-28-3.
*England legends finished their quota of 20 overs and have scored 188-7. The Pathan brothers shared seven wickets between them.
Both the brothers showed that they may have been retired from the international cricket for a while now, but they have not forgotten the skills which made them so successful over the years in international cricket.
