India is scheduled to play a test series of 5 matches against England. The series which begins on 4th of August also marks the beginning of second World Test Championship. After a loss in the finals of inaugural world test championship to New Zealand in June, India will look to perform better against the hosts England.
It was in 2007 that India had a successful series against England. Under the leadership of Rahul Dravid, they won the 3 test series by a margin of 1-0. However the Indian team has had a torrid time in England post 2007. They were thrashed in each of the past 3 test series in England as the batsmen looked hapless in swinging conditions.
This time though, the situation is much different for both the teams. The Indian team had a historic test series victory in Australia earlier this year that would surely boost their confidence about playing overseas. Moreover that victory came with a depleted side further boosts India up.
On the other hand, England are struggling in test matches. Except the skipper Joe Root, none of the English batsmen look comfortable against the red ball. Moreover the departure of Ben Stokes from the series due to mental health issues further dents their brittle batting line up. If England are to continue their cycle of winning test series at home against India, a lot will depend on Root and the senior pace bowling duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
Pant posts a hilarious picture!
For India to break their hoodoo of horrible displays in England, all the batsmen will have to be at their best. Hence all the eyes will be on Virat Kohli and the other Indian batters. One more player on whom much rests is star wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. The left hander will have to play a crucial role in the series if India are to win this.
Keeping the thing in mind, Pant is also leaving no stones unturned to prepare for the series. He is seen sweating both on the field and in the gym. Recently Pant has shared a funny video on his Instagram.
In the video, Pant is doing some gymnastics like pyrotechnics. After doing various stuffs of it, Pant does an ‘Arch’ position in front of the camera. Moreover the ease with which he did that, it appeared as if he is more of a professional Gymnast rather than a cricketer. The funnier part about this was Axar Patel.
The left handed spinner sneaked in the space vacated beneath Pant who was in his arched position. He can be seen smiling in the picture with Pant above him. It was quite hilarious to see the duo in such a way.
