Indian cricketer KL Rahul is making the most out of the opportunity he got. After being out of India’s test team for over two years, Rahul was an unexpected call into the final XI. He was a backup cover for the middle over.

However, injuries to Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal opened doors for him. The talented cricketer was able to grab the opportunity with both his hands. He was India’s best batter so far and was able to counter the swing of English conditions with ease.

In the process he managed to hit an unbeaten fifty and still going strong as India clinch closer to England’s 183 on day 3. He held his own at one end while he got little support from middle order. On the other hand, England bowlers are frustrated with Rahul as he continues to play them effectively.

Ollie Robinson has started a mini battle when he breezed past Rahul at non striker’s end on day 3. He touched Rahul while the duo were exchanging words. On the other hand, since yesterday Robinson was trying to distract Rahul with his words. But Rahul is looking cool as ever and he answered the English pacer with a smile almost every time.

KL Rahul Holds Indian batting

Rahul continues his dominance against English bowlers and looked at ease while negotiating the swing. He got great support from Rohit Sharma at the top as the pair laid a solid foundation for the team.

However, the middle order disappointed as the big three Pujara, Kohli and Rahane scored a combined total of 9 runs in the match. The 29-year old has last played a test match in 2019 against West Indies.

He was largely overlooked but his class meant he remained as a floating backup for the team. Especially with covid, teams are going with bigger squads on the tours. The opportunity presented itself for KL Rahul and he capitalized it quite brilliantly.

India will be hoping for Rahul to convert this brilliant half century into a big hundred. A decent first innings lead is crucial for the visitors to start on a positive note especially after a disappointing 2018 series in England.
