Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has once again made a brilliant start to his innings. But the veteran batsman has once again threw his wicket in an irresponsible manner.
Rohit Sharma ensured that India was on the right track after Australia managed to take the wicket of Shubman Gill early in the innings. He forged a fifty run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara as India was looking comfortable in the middle.
Rohit Sharma played some classy shots. However, he couldn’t resist the temptation to hit Nathan Lyon. The finger spinner, who is playing his 100th test managed to outfox Rohit Sharma quite easily.
He flighted the ball just a little more as Rohit Sharma miscued his traditional lofty shot over deep mid wicket. The ball walloped into the air and Mitchell Starc took a decent catch running in from long on.
Rohit Sharma made a valiant 44 once again but was a tad irresponsible as his wicket was crucial for Australia at that stage of the match. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara is continuing his own battle alongside captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Rain played spoilsport for the rest of the day as the entire third session was abandoned on day 2. India will now need to bat out of their skin to ensure that they are not left behind. The onus is on Indian middle order to make sure that India reaches close or cross the Australian total.
India are still trailing by 307 runs at stumps on day 2. Earlier in the day, Indian bowlers did a brilliant job to restrict Australia for less than 400. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur have both crucial breakthroughs back to back to put hosts on a backfoot.
However, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc managed to score some quick and important runs in their partnership. Natarajan came back to take the final wicket and bowl out Australia for 369.
Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon managed to dismiss Rohit Sharma for a record sixth time. No one has managed to dismiss him more in test cricket. Only Kagiso Rabada is up there with 5 dismissals before this tour.
The level of cricket being played in this series is of the highest quality. But the test match can swing from one team to another team in just a session. So, the match is nicely poised with three days play left.
