India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer is currently resting after an operation. The 26 year old right hander got injured when he fell flat on his left shoulder while diving on the field. Thus, his shoulder got dislocated and he had to go through an operation for the treatment of it. Unfortunately for him, the injury happened while playing for India against England in an ODI. Hence, he was out of that series as well as the subsequent IPL 2021 that followed it.
With his recovery taking time, Iyer was not included in the Indian team for limited overs vs Sri Lanka. This series will be hosted by Sri Lanka in July. However, he is expected to get fit for the World T20 that is scheduled to be held in October.
Having made his international debut vs New Zealand in a T20 game in 2017, Iyer is one of India’s first choice batsman in middle order. He is one of the player who can be both defensive as well as severe when the situation arises. Moreover, Iyer holds the record of hitting 31 runs in an over against Roston Chase of West Indies. That is the highest number of runs scored by any Indian in an ODI match.

The right hander has played just 21 ODI games but is expected to bat at the number 4 position. Since the retirement of Yuvraj Singh, no one has performed well on this position. Hence, the number 4 slot has become like a musical chair for India in last 2 years. Consequently, a fit again Iyer will be itching to go out there in the field and display his vast amount of talent that brought him into national reckoning.
Since Iyer is at home in the the process of rest and recovery, he has uploaded a funny video on his Instagram account. The video contains him and his sister Shresta Iyer playing a hilarious game. It is called ” If you look the same way they point, you lose”. As the name suggests, if one player points towards same where and if the other player looks at the same direction, he / she would lose.
Both the siblings looked joyful and laughed at each other’s mistake while playing the game. Their pet dog named ‘Betty’ also a part of the video.
