Indian Premier League is one of the biggest sporting tournaments in the world. It is the flag bearer of cricket in terms on revenue and stands on par with internationally well acclaimed sports. IPL has changed the cricket in many ways for the better. It has provided financial well being to cricketers.

On the other hand, Indian cricket has heavily benefited from the introduction. The league has not only raked record revenue but also provided Indian cricket with many exciting talents. In a way, IPL helped India to become the best cricketing nation in a short space of time.

IPL 2020 is being conducted in unprecedented time. Amidst the corona crisis across India, the board has decided to go ahead with the tournament. However, they were forced to shift out of India.

After initial plan in March for IPL, the board were unable to begin on schedule as India went under a lockdown. After much deliberation, the board has decided to play in United Arab Emirates.

The Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium were decided as the three venues for IPL 2020. The teams will play across Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi during the course of the tournament.

The tournament will begin on September 19 and the finals are scheduled to be played on November 10. Meanwhile, there has been lot of unprecedented events that are taking place as we gear up to the tournament. So, here are the latest updates on IPL schedule 2020.

August 21, 2019: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and other major teams flew to Dubai today. They will undergo a six mandatory quarantine and BCCI are planning to release IPL schedule next week.

August 27, 2019: BCCI have discussed with ECB about England vs Australia series to finalize IPL schedule. As per the latest reports, all England and Australian players associated in the series will join their teams by September 21.

August 28, 2019: Deepak Chahar tested positive for Corona virus. At least 10 staff members in Chennai Super Kings have contracted the virus. The board is closely monitoring the situation.

August 29, 2020: BCCI were initially thought to release schedule today. But after second player positive case in CSK halted the plans at this moment.

September 1, 2020: Chennai Super Kings players tested negative. BCCI finalizing the IPL 2020 schedule, will probably release in couple of days.

September 3, 2020: BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed IPL schedule to be released on Friday.

September 4, 2020: IPL schedule to be released at 8pm today.
