Indian consumer goods company Patanjali has reportedly shown their interest in bidding for IPL title rights this season. BCCI are currently looking for sponsors to IPL title as VIVO cut their ties.

With increasing pressure on boycott Chinese products, the Chinese mobile company decided to drop their contract for this season. In 2018, Vivo signed a five year deal with BCCI for title sponsorship. As part of this contract, BCCI used to earn Rs 440 crore every season.

However, this abrupt decision by VIVO meant the board are looking for new IPL title sponsor. With IPL being the most lucrative T20 league in the world, there is no shortage of interest. But Patanjali are the first company to make their interest in bidding public.

“We are considering the IPL title sponsorship for this year, since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform,” Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala said. This news really took internet by storm and in a good and hilarious way.

There are names of firms like Amazon, Dream 11, Unacademy, Byju’s and others who are contemplating on acquiring rights. The board is looking to minimize the revenue drop as the franchises lost some money due to empty stadiums.

Although it is a difficult stage for BCCI to get sponsors in such short notice, netizens are hilarious when they heard Patanjali being in the race for rights. The twitter audience made some really funny memes on hearing the news of Baba Ramdev’s company sponsoring IPL title.
