Sunrisers Hyderabad might have lost today’s match. But the form of Jonny Bairstow and possible inclusion of Kane Williamson in the next match might have given their fans some hope. The Hyderabad franchise has missed a cool and calm headed player like Williamson.
To put that in perspective, none of the Indian batsman in the middle order of Sunrisers Hyderabad have been great. In the third consecutive match the middle order of Hyderabad showed their brittleness. It failed to complete the chase that they should have done again as they messed up the target.
Till the time, Jonny Bairstow was batting like a dream, it looked that Hyderabad today would easily chase the total down. Particularly, his one shot that he hit a six to Trent Boult is one to watch out for.
It was the third over of the innings of Hyderabad. Jonny Bairstow was batting and Trent Boult was bowling for Mumbai. Third ball of the over from Boult was right into the slot of Jonny Bairstow.
The batsman used his timing and connection with bat and hit through the line as the ball just sailed through over long off for a 6. However this wasn’t the only thing with that shot. The ball hit the fridge kept in the dugout of Sunrisers Hyderabad at its glass got completely shattered.
Such was the power behind the stroke of Jonny Bairstow. Hence, everyone from the Sunrisers Hyderabad dugout and even the captain David Warner enjoyed the stroke.
Brute power of Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow wasn’t done yet and he punched the next delivery for a full toss for a 4 through mid off left. Unfortunately he got out a couple of overs later when he was hit wicket while trying to to sweep delivery of Krunal Pandya.
Had he been there for a few more more overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad could have been in altogether different position. But as they say cricket is not a game of iffs and butts.
Jonny Bairstow made 43 runs in 22 balls that included three fours and four sixes.
