Surya Kumar Yadav had a great start to his T20 career in March against England. On a similar line, he had another brilliant start to his innings but this time in ODI cricket. Coming in at number 5, Yadav looked in pristine touch from the word go. In the end he was able to face just 20 balls, but made the maximum out of it.
The Mumbai batsman finished unbeaten at 31 with 5 fours to his name in a cameo of 20 deliveries as India sealed the game with 7 wickets and 13.3 overs to spare.
It was the 31st over of the innings with India just 48 runs short of victory and their victory all but confirmed. Manish Pandey was out and in came Surya Kumar Yadav. The first ball he faced was driven towards mid off where the fielder miss fielded. Hence the debutant took a brace and scored runs on the very first ball of his ODI career.
His first 4 came in Dananjaya’s next over when he played a lovely looking inside out shot over covers. Wanidu Hasaranga came to bowl the next over and was treated with utter disdain. The way Yadav batted in this over, it looked as if he wanted to finish the match as soon as possible.

On the third ball of the over, Hasaranga bowled a full delivery. Hence Yadav sat down on a knee and bashed it through square leg for a four. The next ball was pretty similar. Consequently the batsman repeated his shot and yet another sweep was nailed through leg side.
Stung by getting hir for two successive fours, Hasaranga bowled a googly to mix things up. However the line was wrong as he delivered it outside off stump. Yadav quickly went on the back foot and punched it over mid wicket for third successive boundary of the over.
His final four came again against Dananjaya. He jumped down the track and carved one over mid off for a boundary. At the end, he took a single which levelled the scores before Dhawan sealed the game with one more run.
