Its a known fact that Virat Kohli is a hot headed person who plays with his heart on the sleeve. Moreover, he is a brilliant batsman and a strict captain on the field who dislikes being lethargic on the field. Hence, often he can be seen giving a bit of verbal to the culprit fielder who goes a bit slow.
This habit of Kohli was again visible in the third T20 vs England. In reply to a modest target of 157, England were coasting towards victory. Accordingly, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow were batting easily and taking their team to victory without any problems.
Kohli loses Cool!
In the 12th over of the innings, Yuzvendra Chahal was bowling to the duo of Buttler and Bairstow. On the fourth delivery of the over, Chahal bowled a googly to Bairstow who clipped the ball off his pads. Besides, Shardul Thakur was fielding at the spot where the ball had reached.
Kohli and the bowler expected the throw to be quick and flat as the batsmen were looking to take a brace. However, it wasn’t to be as the throw from Thakur was way too slow and far away from the non strikers end. The throw from Thakur was so wild that it went to Kohli at covers!
Needless to say, Kohli was fired up at this act of carelessness and lethargy. He said few expletives to Shardul Thakur who tried to explain himself but to no avail. Even, Yuzvendra Chahal looked displeased at the slow effort from Thakur.
Earlier, England had won the toss and took the decision of fielding first. It proved to be right as the Indian batsmen could not cope up with the pressure of pace bowling by England. Archer and Wood combined to put India under pressure. They blew the top order reducing the score to 24-3.
After that, India made their way to 156-6 only due to the effort of captain Virat Kohli’s valiant knock of 77*. But, the target proved to be too less for England as they cantered to victory by 8 wickets.
With this win England leads 2-1 in the 5 match T20 series. the 4th match of the series will be played on the 18th of the march in the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
